Blackberry, Chester (late fruiting)
This blackberry was bred in the USA but is ideally suited to British climate and conditions. It starts cropping in mid-August and usually runs through until the first frosts. The plants are enormously vigourous and need to be spaced at 2 metre intervals in the row. They produce huge yields of blackberries that are delicious straight off the plant, under cream, and in trifles, jams, crumbles, summer pudding…anywhere really.
