The Red Ramanas Rose (Rosa rugosa 'rubra') is a tough, fast growing rose that suckers well, making an impenetrable hedge. Prickly stems bear heavily scented red flowers in summer and huge red/orange hips (favoured by birds) from autumn until the first frosts.
