Bareroot Hedging, Trees & Shrubs

In this area of the site you will find a large range of hedging plants, trees and shrubs. Everything in this section is four years old or less (Yew Box and the larger Beech being the oldest). While it is impossible to generalise most plants are under 4ft (1.20 metres) tall. If you would like ready mixed hedging or you want to buy in larger numbers, then take a look at our wide range of Hedging Packs.

Throughout this site, you will come across the repeated mantra that Hedging, shrubs and trees all establish better when they are planted relatively young. In particular Hedging plants benefit from the process of being transplanted while immature and we always recommend using small stock provided you have the time and patience to let them grow. In the long run the best hedge always comes from smaller hedging stock.

The story is similar with trees - in time (generally 7 years or so), they will catch up with and in most cases then overtake the larger ornamental trees available in the Standards section which we sell either because they are grafted stock and not available as smaller trees, or to create instant impact.

If you are uncertain which hedge plants may be suitable for the purpose you have in mind, please take a look at our Hedge Plant Lists - whilst not exhaustive they might be thought provoking...
