Pot Grown
and Container Hedging - Escallonia
All
the members of the Escallonia family are outstanding
evergreen hedging plants. They grow well almost anywhere except
full shade provided there is adequate drainage, and they are
kept off solid chalk and out of frost pockets. Vigorous varieties
of escallonia such as rubra macrantha, Donard Seedling, and
iveyii all grow to more than 2.5 metres (and do so quickly)
which makes them excellent for screening, windbreaks, privacy
hedges and the like. Slower growing varieties such as Apple
Blossom are better suited for hedging of between 100 and 150
cms.
