Hedging and tree diseases and cures

Disease can affect hedging plants and ornamental shrubs as much as it can fruit trees and bushes. The same rules apply to plants in this respect as to people. In general unhealthy, hungry, neglected and weak trees are more likely to become infected than healthy ones. So as part of your gardening, try to make sure that you keep your plants happy, healthy and strong. If you are not sure what to do, take a look at our note on Hedging and Tree Feeding and Hygiene. Having said which, even the healthiest plant can catch something unpleasant. Here is a list of (what we think are) the more common diseases and conditions that can affect woody plants.
