Green Griselinia (or New Zealand Privet) is a strong growing shrub or small tree well suited to coastal locations. It is a New Zealand native (surprise, surprise) its Maori name is Kapuka. It grows in a climate very similar to our own. Griselinia is a fantastic hedge plant, particularly where it is exposed to salty winds.
The oval leaves are alternating and a glossy light green with paler undersides. The tiny flowers (similar in colour to the leaves and beautifully scented)) are carried in clusters of 50-100 in May. The fruit is a small blackish berry.
Plant at 50cm(18”) spacing for hedges. Good for hedges 1.20-400cm(4-12’) in height
