Apple - Discovery - Eater
Discovery - Eating Apple
Discovery (Malus domestica) along with Beauty
of Bath is probably the best early eater. It has excellent
texture and flavour - crisp, juicy and sweet. In fact Dicovery
is an excellent juicer. The tree's compact size makes it ideal
for smaller gardens. Discovery has an early flowering season and
needs to be grown in the company of another pollinator or self-fertile
apple for both to fruit.
Take a look at our Guide
to Fruit Pollination for more information on apple and fruit
pollination and for suitable cross-pollination partners for Discovery.

The planting hole for Discovery should be 1m across and 40cms deep. If necessary, the soil can be improved with a little well rotted compost or manure. Stake the tree with a 50mm (2") diameter tree stake, and secure it with a buckle and strap tree tie within 50-60 cms of the ground. Weeds and grass should be kept away from the trunk by weeding, spraying or using a mulch mat. For further information, take a look at our Tree Planting Guide.
