Alder, Grey (Alnus incana)

The Grey Alder (Alnus incana) is more attractive and more tolerant of harsh conditions than the Common Alder. Grey Alder is a medium sized, fast growing native tree, with distinctive pointed leaves, grey on the underside. Extremely tough, Grey Alder is tolerant of dry areas, urban conditions and air pollution. False cones in the autumn provide food for small birds. Good for taller hedges and screens 2m+. To 20m
